Interview

Hi Ellaine:) Glad to have you here.

Now, to start, what inspired you to write the "Blue 52"?

I had to write Blue 52. The book is the sequel to Return Engagement which is also published by Whiskey Creek Press. I loved those characters so much that I couldn’t give them up! I dreamed about those people and lived with them in my head for so long that when the book ended, I felt crushed. Blue 52 gave them back to me.

How would you describe the story to someone who hasn't read it yet?
It’s a mainstream romance with action, adventure, and of course desirable and beautiful characters who love intently and are required to achieve something remarkable.

Describe Hank and Kathryn in 3 words each.
Hank my hero: brave, loving, sexy.
Kathryn, my heroine: brilliant, self-assured, determined

What scene did you have the most fun writing? Why?
Oh, it was the first pivotal scene in the book. My hero Hank hasn’t had a good life because when he was three years old, his father, the President of the United States, was murdered by his mother who then committed suicide. Hank has always accepted her guilt, but when his parents’ bodies have to be moved to make way for a modern, high-speed train, he starts to remember a lot of things he’d forgotten. He vows to get to the bottom of the murder and prove his mother’s innocence. At this point, Hank starts changing from a mourning dove to a hawk, a very satisfying transformation.

Why do you write?
LOL. I have to. I can’t stop.

Do you listen to music while you write?
No. I have to have quiet or I’ll get distracted.

Did you always want to be an author?
I did. I dictated my first story to my father when I was around five, but I never really thought it would happen. How nice that I was wrong.  :)

Does your family read your books?
Some do, but not all. I feel kind of bad about that.

Can you tell me some of your favorite authors? How about books?
This is the hardest question you’ve asked me because there are so many. Some of my favorite authors are Barbara Michaels (Elizabeth Peters), Frank McCourt, Philippa Gregory, Joel C. Rosenberg, Jana DeLeon, Karen White, Paullina Simons, and Sherryl Woods. As far as favorite books are concerned, I’m reading The White Princess right now, and I’m enjoying it so much. I’m also fond of The Bronze Horseman series. There are just too many to mention.

What are you currently working on?
I’m working on the third book in the Lovinggood trilogy. Return Engagement was one, Blue 52 is second, and my current WIP is the third book. It doesn’t have a name yet because I can’t think of one. I’m drawing a blank even though usually it’s easy for me to come up with a title.

A few short answer questions:
Tea or coffee? Tea
Do you prefer the sea side or the mountains? Sea side
Sweet or salty? Sweet
Print or ebook? Either. I like both.
Movies or TV shows? Movies

I can't pinpoint a favorite character and so therefore I'd have to agree with Rita that it changes with every book.
