Delight your palate[#6]: French Toast

French Toast

Ingredients
1 egg
200 ml milk
vanilla
pinch of salt
spices(cinnamon, chili[I like the bite], ginger, lemon peel, nutmeg, cloves)
bread slices
~1 tbs butter

Beat the egg and add the vanilla, salt and spices. Mix in the milk and then put the mixture in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Melt the butter in a hot skillet, while that's happening place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl or plate, letting them soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side. Soak/coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time.
Transfer bread slices to griddle or skillet, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown. Turn and brown the other side.
Serve with powdered vanilla sugar, honey, fresh fruits, citrus jelly or whatever inspires you.

EXTRA:
*If you use French brioche it's better then usual bread.
*I tried using fresh bread, 1 day old bread or even older(3-4 days), I liked it most with the 1-day old one.

  1. Mmm love french toast. I usually add a little bit of chocolate extract to mine. So good!
