INTERVIEW
Hi Amber :) Glad to have you here. Now, to start, what inspired you to write "Chance of rain"?
Thank you for having me, Ally!
I came up with the idea for Chance of Rain as my books often come to me: with a contrast. I envisioned this incredibly strong, handsome, powerful man. A Navy SEAL. A hero. And I imagined him hiding in his barn. It’s storming out and he’s inside, listening to the wind howl around him.
But what is he hiding from? It wouldn’t be anything as simple as a person. He would meet that kind of enemy head-on. It had to be something deeper than that. Something emotional from his past. Something he’s a little bit ashamed of. And maybe he’s always been running from it, his whole life. And maybe he’s finally ready to stop. That’s when the heroine shows up.
How would you describe the story to someone who hasn't read it yet?
Chance of Rain is a very sexy small town contemporary romance with a Navy SEAL hero and the childhood sweetheart he could never forget.
Describe Natalie and Sawyer in 3 words each.
Natalie is brave, caring, and trapped.
Sawyer is fierce, loyal, and adrift.
What scene did you have the most fun writing? Why?
The barn scene from above, because not only is it dark and emotional, it also turns very, very steamy J
How did you choose the names of your characters?
I’m born and raised in Texas, so I wanted something that would feel local, like people you would have met here.
Do you have a writing process? Are you or plotter or pantser :P?
A little bit of both! This is one of my shorter books, a category length instead of a single-title, but it actually went through more revision passes. Gotta do it many times as it needs to get it right J
Did you always want to be an author?
I’m one of those who has jumped around on careers. I guess I like variety, but one of the great things about writing is that there is inherent variety in the types of tropes and characters and genres. Each book is a new adventure.
Can you tell me some of your favorite authors? How about books?
In contemporary romance, I love Toni Blake because her books are sweet and emotional but they bring the heat! Very sexy. I also love Megan Hart, Ruthie Knox, and Lorelei James.
What are you currently working on?
My release schedule so far is all historical romance for 2014! But I’m working on adding to that. In particular, I have a sequel to Chance of Rain also set in Dearling, Texas. This one will feature Joe, who is the sheriff.
A few short answer questions:
Tea or coffee? Iced tea
Do you prefer the sea side or the mountains? Sea side
Sweet or salty? Salty
Thank you again for having me on Aly’s Miscellany! I hope you enjoy Chance of Rain.
Thank you for being here!
